The politics and policy of the Republic of Cyprus take place in a framework of presidential representative of a democratic republic, meaning that the President of Cyprus is both the head of the state as well as the head of the government belonging to a multi-party system.
The government is responsible of the executive power whilst the Legislative power is exercised both by the government and the the House of Representatives meaning that for a new law to be voted both the government and the House of representatives are responsible to vote whether it will be applied or not.
